Crowns

A crown or a cap is a custom made restoration or prosthesis made in a dental lab that is used to cover the tooth with significant amount of loss of tooth structure. They restore the teeth to health, aesthetics and function by providing the required size, shape, contour , strength and support to the damaged teeth structure. After Root Canal procedure it is highly recommended that tooth is restored with a crown to give functional and aesthetical rehabilitation.

Crowns can be fabricated with a wide array of materials available today suiting to different needs. There are variety of options to choose from :

  • Porcelain Fused to Metal (Ceramic – Tooth Colored Crown)
    • Non Precious Metal Alloy (Nickel-Chrome)
    • Semi Precious Metal Alloy (Silver-Palladium)
    • Precious Metal Alloy (Gold Captek)
  • Metal Free All Ceramic Zirconia Crowns from 3M Lava, Dentsply Cercon.

The difference in these restorations is their bio compatibility with the gums, their strength and their aesthetic value.
